New superintendent will meet and greet Monday night

Incoming school superintendent James Willis will be welcomed at a community reception on Monday, June 6 at 7 p.m. in the district’s Administration Building at 1031 Elm St. The district’s Parent Teacher Organizations are sponsoring the reception, and all are welcome.

Willis is currently the superintendent of schools in Utica, New York, and will take up the reins in Peekskill on July 11. He will be visiting Peekskill schools during the day on June 6.

At a community coffee event held two weeks ago, Mr. Willis described himself as having an open leadership style, and stated that his educational philosophy: “All children can learn and all kids can be successful.” He also added, “Nothing is more fun that being around kids.”

“I am very much looking forward to meeting all our parents and neighbors,” Willis said. “My wife and I are looking for a home in the area, and we have been very impressed by the warm welcome we have received so far.”
