
Arrests in Peekskill, May 31 through June 6, 2011
TUESDAY, May 31
2:15 a.m. Hannibal Lee, 45, of Peekskill was arrested on the 1600 block of Park Street and charged with the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor. Lee was charged after taking a vehicle belonging to a female acquaintance without her permission and refusing to return it. Lee was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail. Officer Steve Zappolo made the arrest.
TUESDAY, May 31
2:35 a.m. Bradley Mack, 36, of Peekskill was arrested on the 10 block of North Division Street and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, Class E felonies, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Mack was observed operating his vehicle the wrong way on the 10 block of N. Division St. and stopped for the offense. Further investigation revealed he was operating while intoxicated and had a blood alcohol content of .22%. He was additionally charged with marijuana possession after a small quantity was found. Mack was also operating with a suspended license for failure to submit to a previous chemical test for a DWI that is currently pending in court, elevating the charge to a felony. Mack was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail. Officer Anthony Nappi made the arrest.
TUESDAY, May 31
1:53 p.m. Oscar Jackson, 63, of Peekskill was arrested on the 1000 block of Main Street and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and public consumption of alcohol, a violation. Jackson was observed drinking alcohol in public and subsequent to his arrest found to be in possession of a small quantity of crack cocaine. Jackson was released on his own recognizance and is due in Peekskill City Court on June 23. Officer John White made the arrest.
FRIDAY, June 3
1:40 p.m. Willie Townsend, 50, of Queens and Jason Rowe, 28, of Brooklyn were arrested at Stop and Shop at the Beach Shopping Center and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a Class D felony. Townsend and Rowe had a fraudulent credit card they attempted to utilize to purchase gift cards with from Stop and Shop. Further investigation revealed the two were in possession of several additional stolen credit cards, a mini computer, and a credit card swipe device. Police said it appeared they had the ability to manufacture credit cards utilizing stolen account information and would then utilize the bogus credit cards to purchase gift cards from unsuspecting supermarkets. The investigation is continuing into the two as police are working with other agencies and attempting to identify other victims. Both were held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail. Detective Ralph D’Aliso made the arrest.
MONDAY, June 6
10:40 a.m. Edward Gary, 52, of Peekskill was arrested at Police Headquarters and charged with fourth-degree arson, a Class E felony. Gary was charged following an investigation into a fire at the Wirlie Café (980 Washington St.) which occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. on May 31. The fire, which was started when Gary recklessly disposed of several matches into a pile of rubbish, caused damage to the structure and was extinguished by the Peekskill Fire Department. Gary was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in Peekskill City Court on June 20. Det. John Bennett made the arrest.
