LETTER: Keep Galef as our voice in Albany

To the editor:

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef is in touch with the needs of her constituents. I have known Sandy for over 15 years now and I know she works hard to keep voters connected and up-to-date through town meetings, newsletters, surveys, television programs, and attending community events. She understands that an educated public is critical to better government for all.

Sandy empowers voters with the information they need on the issues that matter most to their families and communities. She holds regular forums where voters can come together with government officials, professionals, and local leaders to discuss critical issues. Just this year alone Sandy has held forums on property tax relief, legislative reform in Albany, education reform to cut costs, liveable communities for seniors, and preserving the environment.

In April 2009 Sandy formed the Shared Services Task Force, comprised of residents, municipal officials, and school board trustees of the 90th Assembly District, to help citizens understand how to work with the legislature on behalf of their communities. Since its formation, several municipalities in Sandy’s district, including Briarcliff, Croton, Ossining, and Philipstown, are in the process of evaluating how to share services to reduce costs.

Sandy’s newsletters are an efficient tool for keeping in touch. In addition to giving status reports on legislative reform, Sandy gets feedback through surveys, announces upcoming forums, and informs readers where to get more information.

We have a strong advocate in Assemblywoman Sandy Galef. Let’s keep Sandy as our voice in Albany by supporting her in November.
