LETTER: Galef a champion of reform
To the editor:
In the 90th Assembly District we need a legislator with the highest ethical standards and the courage to make the tough decisions that are in the taxpayers’ best interests. In Sandy Galef, we have that person.
Sandy has long been a champion of reform in New York State. She has acted independently and against party leadership to address the needs of her constituents.
In 2009, she voted against the MTA payroll tax, because it unfairly impacted employers. She introduced legislation to remove pork barrel items (member items) from the 2010-2011 budget, saving state taxpayers about $170 million. She voted against ending the sales tax exemption on clothes under $110 and against increasing state income taxes.
Sandy has sponsored and co-sponsored legislative items to accomplish fiscal, legislative, educational, and election reform to improve government efficiency and transparency. She has fought to limit unfunded mandates for local municipalities. She supports consolidation and sharing of municipal services and capping property taxes. She is an outstanding environmental advocate and calls for the enforcement of ethical behavior in the Legislature. Sandy has a proven record of standing up for what is right.
Sandy has been working hard for us. Please vote in November to keep Sandy in Albany.
