June M. Opie, 86, of Wappinger Falls, NY passed away on August 14, 2011 at the Lutheran Care Center. Born in Buchanan, NY on April 23, 1925, she was the daughter of Daniel Conklin and Elsie Chase. June married Reggie F. "Dusty" Opie in 1950 in Peekskill, NY. He predeceased her on June 19, 2004.

She was a Food Service Manager for the Ossining School District and IBM. She was a Seventh Day Adventist and a professional singer with Big Bands. June's most enjoyable moments was being a loving fulltime great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother.

June is survived by two daughters, Lynn Simmons of Poughkeepsie, NY and Brenda Opie of Fishkill, NY; two grandsons, Jeffrey Simmons of Maybrook, NY and Scott Simmons of Wappinger Falls, NY; three great-grandchildren, Emma Simmons of Maybrook, NY, Rome Simmons and Titan Simmons, both of Wappinger Falls, NY; one sister, Doris Rodak of Peekskill, NY; a niece, Lorinda DeSantis of Connecticut; and a nephew, Fred Rodak of Nevada.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff and nurses for the wonderful care given to our mom, especially two south.

Visitation will be 3-9PM Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home, 39 South Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. (845) 452-1840. Funeral Service will be held 10AM at the All Saints Lutheran Church, Thursday, August 18, 2011 133 North Cross Rd Lagrangeville, NY with Rev Glenn Stubbs officiating.
