Tynan to perform Sept. 25 for Oitice Memorial fund
Famed Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will be back at the Paramount on Sept. 25 in a fundraising performance presented by the Sam Oitice Heroes Remembered Memorial Committee.
The committee is funding the memorial park at the Riverfront Green that is named for Oitice, one of the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
Oitice was a life-long resident of Peekskill, a 25-year member of the Peekskill Fire Department and a former Peekskill police officer prior to joining the FDNY. He was an FDNY firefighter for nearly 19 years prior to his death.
A reader of PeekskillDaily.com is looking forward to coming here from upstate for the concert and is encouraging everyone to come to hear Tynan and also support the Memorial Committee.
“Hope people will attend the Ronan Tynan concert on Sept. 25,” she wrote. “It is a benefit for the Sam Oitice memorial. Sam was a hero of 9-11. My daughter and I are coming from the Syracuse area to attend. We went to the concert in 2008 and it was great!! We also enjoyed visiting the Peekskill area and are looking forward to our next visit.”
