EMBARK|Peekskill organizing for fall launch

A group dedicated to establishing a Performing and Literary Arts Space for Peekskill will hold its inaugural event on Sept. 10.

Here’s a letter from the organizers.

Dear Friends, Neighbors and Family,

As many of you know, a little over a year ago I began a rather large endeavor with fellow theatre professionals, Peekskill parents and good friends, Sol Miranda & Ian Berger.  We have formed a performing and literary arts coalition called EMBARK|Peekskill with the goal of establishing and developing a Performing and Literary Arts Center for Peekskill.  (For those of you living in Colorado - the idea is based on the model of the DAIRY CENTER in Boulder).  This would be a center with performance and education facilities to be shared by many arts groups in Peekskill and the surrounding area and hopefully keep performing and literary arts professionals in our area working and creating work!  [recent Patch article:  http://peekskill.patch.com/articles/embark-strives-to-establish-home-for-live-theater-in-peekskill ]

In order to get the word out and start developing audience and patron support we have had two events this summer, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S FIREFLY AND FAIRY FESTIVAL and CHAT, CHEW AND CHEER a gathering of potential steering and board members and patrons.  One month from now, EMBARK will host its first PEEKSKILL FALL PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL which will be, in many ways, a mini model of the types of selections we hope will someday be hosted by our center.

In order to secure the performance of La Cucarachita Martina (Martina, the little Roach), a family puppet rock 'n roll musical in Spanish and English by Teatro Sea from NYC to be presented September 10, we have started an online campaign drive.  The campaign started as $10 from 200 people in 13 days!

Now our goal is $10 from 175 people in 8 days!

Please visit our campaign at http://www.indiegogo.com/embark?a=212312&i=addr

If we reach our goal in time we make a little extra $$ from Indiegogo!

Your contribution will ensure that the children in our community will get to see this charming show AND will help us move our EMBARK mission forward!  If you cannot contribute now, we hope you will be able to attend this show or our festival events, which will also be a wonderful contribution to our endeavor.

Please Forward to anyone who might be interested in helping. Thanks!
