New superintendent unlikely until 2011 school year

The search for a new school superintendent will begin this month and might not be concluded until next spring, following the announcement on August 30 that current Superintendent Judith Johnson will retire this December.

Twenty-five new teachers have joined the Peekskill City School District for the 2010-2011 school year.

Hudson Valley Landscapes: En Plein Air with Jeanne Demotses is the new exhibit at the Field Library Gallery during October with an artist’s reception on Oct. 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Fran Sullivan Schulz, a recently retired Walter Panas High School English teacher, will help students with their college essays at The Field Library.

Peekskill School Superintendent Judith Johnson will submit her retirement papers to the school board at this Tuesday’s board meeting and the board will then begin the process of seeking her replacement.
